Do you want to know something? Mover closer it's a secret to embarrassing to say out loud. "I haven't put photos in a album since my son was born.....he is sixteen." Oh..my..God. What I am doing now....do you see all the years? So far....each album is a year! And it is slow going. I guess I put it off until I made some nice covers for the albums. Somewhere within the years there is a vacation to Florida, that will have it's own book.
Now Dawn, you know what they say? Better late than never. I am so proud of you. Tony and I have pictures everywhere also, and we have been married 34 years. I keep telling myself the same thing. Now don't feel bad. We take the pictures, and then they just seem to stay in the package over time. You have encouraged me to get started too. Thanks for sharing sweetie. Please stop by and say hi. I love to have you visit. Country hugs, Sherry
ReplyDeleteYou and me both! This is definitely a dirty little secret. I hide all my photos in a desk drawer for that someday. Hope you got yours done.
ReplyDeleteRemember to write on the back of the photos who and when. You think you will always remember but what about your kids and grandkids and so on?
ReplyDeleteI'm going thru decades of my parents photos and they don't remember some of the people in the photos. I'm kind of obsessive about this 'cause I'm into genealogy and these family photos are so important to me;)
Marnie
Oh Dawn you and me both! Mine are all in shoe boxes and manilla envelopes and on and on. I was really good when the kids were little about that but after that I stopped. I tried to scrapbook some but figured I was not very good at it so I stopped. I will get to them all some day when I slow down! Thanks for the reminder...you are not alone my friend. I could use some pointers on good organization when you get going! My mother in law always tells me the same thing that Roses And Lilacs told you...write on the back of the photos. She is also a genealogist! That's another endeavor I want to get into but can't find the time. I do have one side of the family (my mom's) from joining an online site about a year ago. My family on her side is from Prince Edward Island, so it made it fairly easy. You have a lot going on at your house Dawn! How about your garden? Must be crazy right now!
ReplyDeleteYes, do put names & dates with pics. I have some pics that belonged to my mother & some of them I have no idea who they are.
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn...I have been so busy with the my shop here in town, and the antique booth, I've barely had a moment to think. First off, love Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I had a poster on my wall from the album. The couch cover is just beautiful. How on earth do you do that without a pattern?? I have no patience, and my sewing skills are not that great. And now here you are, ready to tackle 16 years of photos! Amazing. You make me ashamed of myself....I haven't worked on anything for at least 3 weeks. Guess I better get my butt in gear. Have a sunny weeK! (hi Debbie, I misss you) Hugs, Kathleen
ReplyDeleteOh dear, something we can all relate to. My big family album became pretty empty when all you girls starting taking what you wanted (even thou all 4 of you say , nope, not me). However after the grandkids started coming I did real goo for a few years. All put in albums, named and dated.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I went to Euorpe I kept a diary and made 3 full albums and typed the diary page that went with each picture under it. Since then. I throw them in a cedar chest and there they stayed till last winter and I sorted them all out to different stacks but have not done a thing with them since. Maybe this winter I will work on them again. I actually hit the jackpot when I sorted them out and found a lot of ones of you 4 girls that Nana had. My drean was to get them all copied and make albums for each of you.
Of course, we haven't done this yet. 20 years...got you beat!
ReplyDeleteNice slipcover!
Thanks, Marnie and everyone else who mentioned to put names on the back of the photo, I thought about the places but not the people.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, you are to funny.
Debbie, I had corn destroying by the raccoons, can you believe it?! With the fencing and all!!? Boo! Hoo!
Too all, I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this "pending picture problem" least I'm not alone!
I know that feeling. I have not put pictures in an album since we left Texas in 1994. Arg, but I have made albums for each niece and nephew (5 of them) when they graduated high school. And also a Scrap album and photo album for each of my brothers (3 of them) from their birth to now! I finally got my album done from my birth to now a year ago. I am so behind and use to be so good at it. Now they are no longer getting printed but on disc instead.... ARgggg, so much to place so little time...
