I'm figuring if I get a run I'll use my handy, dandy snippets and de-stuff her.
I really like to weight my dolls so what I do is bag clean fish rocks and tape it shut with packing tape. Doll pellets are very expensive and rice + split peas can be a mess while in storage, if you know what I mean. Think rodents. Ugh.
I'm not real sure this is a good look but I decided to wait on the face, I have some eyes ordered and I thought I'd try them with this project, I may change my mind.
Well, we really need to work on the feet again. For some reason it's difficult for me to get these the way I want them. I suppose it's kindred to real life and me stuffing my tootsies into small shoes. Just cause I deny my actual shoe size.
Oh well, she will be wearing her own shoes so I'm not concerned about her dawgs.
I attached the arms with a button joint and it may change as I think the nylon might not do well with this procedure. Besides, I'm not happy with her shoulders.
Do you like how one arm curled? I hot glued the seam and discovered if I didn't pull on it to badly, the stiffness of the glue will bend the limb while stuffing it.
I think I pretty well have her proportioned but she may have a different outfit, she looks overalls to me. We'll see.
She will definitely have to have different hair though. C&G Design
She's coming along beautifully. Waiting to see the end results.
ReplyDeleteWow Dawn....what a lot of work to making dolls of any kind. You are a real professional for sure. Nice job so far and can't wait to see how you put her together.
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever to use fish rocks to weigh her down!
ReplyDeleteThat is really interesting. She started out looking lumpy and shapeless and turned into a chubby little doll very quickly. Can't wait to see her face.
ReplyDeleteMarnie
She is really taking shape. She will be very cute.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy the play by play on this doll. Looking Good! I am so glad you use clean fish rocks. Maybe if you make a fish doll, you could use dirty rocks for a more realistic fish. hee hee...
ReplyDeleteLooking very good! It must be difficult not to snag the nylon.
ReplyDeleteFinding supplies is the biggest holdup here, too.
I am so anxious to see her all done..I can't wait. My gosh, you are talented.
