This is a early morning photo from my bedroom window, you can see the swimming pool supports waiting for us to erect around a body of crystal clear water (I'm waiting!)
I took this photo early to show how big my pumpkin flowers are, by the middle of the day they close up, shying away from the heat.

The peas have been sparse and disappointing, I bought the cheap seeds and never will I do that again. Notice the trampoline, grrr...I'm losing more yard everyday.
Some of my flowers have done well in the 1 foot by length of the garden front. The blazing star have bloomed and my new day lilies have buds on them at this point. Time will show if they flower or not.
"Hello, Mr. Sunshine."
My lettuce has done o.k. but it is on the edge of the corn, which I don't really weed.
Beans are m-a-r-v-o-l-o-u-s!
My tomatoes are giving fruit but they look so scrawny, more tuft of grass are growing at their base.
And what about my corn? Well, as I said, I don't weed between the rows, I feel my bending does more damage to the stalks than what it is worth.
Did you ever see so much grass, it's more that what is on our yard and we are baffled as to where it came from. One sorrow plant and one clover was all I saw after 4 hours in the garden, but plenty of grass.
Weeds will wreck a garden fast but your beans look good and the pumpkin is growing like a weed. You have been busy with the new studio. You know what they say in gardening, "next year..."
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of grass for sure. I bet the corn can out compete it all though. It's such a pretty garden! You are setting up a pool and getting a trampoline when we got rid of our trampoline (neighbor kids LOVE it) and will most likely be giving away our pool soon. I can't wait. Too much work and money and not enough pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitty, he looks like my Hocus:)
ReplyDeleteA pool in Maine?

You are coming along fine. It looks a bit late but it is only July! Weeds? Oh my God do I know about weeds! You cannot recognize my carrots amongst them! I will get out there today and work on that. That freaky storm yesterday made my corn go sideways! Wasn't that crazy?? Your garden has so many things in it! Make sure you get the kids to help weed...you are too busy with other things. Kids are great at that stuff! I used to grow blazing star...love the purple color of them...I miss them. I should also cook potatoes as I have such sandy soil and they love it. The field next to my house used to be all potatoes for years. You are right about not weeding the corn! I had forgotten about that? Getting old Dawn. I am so glad I didn't weed mine because that storm would have wiped it out! Thanks for sharing with us. Don't take on too much now...enjoy SOME of your summer!
ReplyDeleteDid I say COOK potatoes??? I meant GROW potaoes!! Arggggg!
ReplyDeleteWe had yellow beans and potatoes from my garden last night for supper and I made a big pig of myself. For meat we had a nice ham steak and I only had a few bites as I wanted the garden stuff. Nothing better! Your weeds will probably give you a little less but you still will enjoy a lotta food.
ReplyDeleteThe garden looks nice! My kids want a trampoline, but I haven't given-in yet! Does yours get a lot of use?
ReplyDeleteI only grow tomatoes, blueberries and strawberries now. The tomatoes are doing well, but I didn't get a single strawberry this year and the blueberry plant is young. Have a great day!
Great looking garden Dawn. You have been busy. There is always next yr. for gardening. At least that's what I tell myself. This knee situation has put a damper on all.
ReplyDeleteThat was so interesting to see your garden !!! The pumpkins look good !
ReplyDelete(I have been helping in my sisters garden as she is now working these buzy weeks on strawberryfields. Her pumpkins look good too and peas :)
Still, it is a wonderful garden! Our container cherry tomatoes are incredibly full and lush. All the rain? No fruit yet.
ReplyDeleteA bat? In the house? Again? Oh, my!
