Another Musicbox
I was very pleased and excited to find this cute little music box at one of my thrift shops this past summer. As usual, it was with the toys and I guess, you'd have to be a collector to really see pass that idea. Anyhow, it was rescued by me, and I didn't pay that much for it. This is my second Raggedy Ann, Andy music box. The first one can be seen here. It is one of my first post on Ann and I was very excited to find that music box also. Though it has a companion music box I haven't located yet I might invest in it at a later date, EBay is wonderful for that! My current music box works and plays School days, dear old golden rule days, without any lag or missed notes.I think....I actually don't know the tune. Ha! C&G Design

How wonderful you found this! Music boxes take me back to my teens and I actually still have a few that were given to me. Love em all! Even neater it is in the book the one you found.
Very cute! I love music boxes. Hope you are feeling okay!
Another good find!! It is very cute. You are lucky that your thrift shops do not have someone that really know the value of certain things.
That is so nice. I hope you find the other one. They are so cute.
tLove the music box...and it's the raggedies too! Saw your post on Madame's ballet.....your daughter is simply gorgeous. I wish I could see her perform. Maybe some day. You must be so proud of her. Sending you warm & loving Christmas wishes.

Love it girl.... Here are the lyrics to the song. I remembered the first 4 lines then lost from there....
Music by Gus Edwards; Lyrics by Will D. Cobb, 1907
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate
"I love you, so"
When we were a couple of kids
Nothing to do, Nellie Darling
Nothing to do you say
Let's take a trip on memory's ship
Back to the bygone days
Sail to the old village school house
Anchor outside the school door
Look in and see
There's you and there's me
A couple of kids once more
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate
"I love you, so"
When we were a couple of kids
'Member the hill
Nellie Darling
And the oak tree
That grew on its brow
They've built forty storeys
Upon that old hill
And the oak's an old chestnut now
'Member the meadows
So green, dear
So fragrant with clover and maize
Into new city lots
And preferred business plots
They've cut them up
Since those days
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days.
Readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate
"I love you, so"
When we were a couple of kids
Hi Skeeter, That is so cute and sweet! Ah, times that seemed so simple and compared too today, they were. Even for me and what I remember.
It's nice to have you back, you have been missed, I hope all is well with your parents. I had my 2nd chemo today and was anxious to get it in this week instead of Christmas week. I'm catching up with a routine with it and I'm hoping to post more. I might even have one for my sister! The one I have is a 2 parter though, I think maybe better photos to come for it.
Hang in there and enjoy the holidays and dont over do girl...
