Under Construction

Blogger has done the nicest and kindest thing, they have added extra pages.

This means I can add up to 10 pages that link off my main blogging page. I've already started to add a shoppe and I've found it most difficult to link to PayPal. I'm sure once I get the hang of it, it will come easy. I just need to create a button for each item, "Who knew?"

I will have a complete profile page, a raggedies page and a collection page....maybe a tutorial page.

African American Raggedy Ann

I had a inquiry on Etsy this week, it was about my African American Raggedy Ann, the perspective buyer wanted to see some pictures of her. It occurred to me during this photography session, that I had not featured them! I opted to not forward this photo because I'm still getting use to the camera settings with the different lighting. All the photos were taken in late evening when the sun was barely visible from my skylights and this photo picked up the red focus dot, Ann looks severely sunburned!

Ah, much better. I can tell I didn't send the first photo because the next photos were shrunk to blog size using my hp image zone. Seems Etsy is telling my my photo files are to large now!? Go figure, I'm not sure what I've done differently except a different camera.

I love the hair on this Ann, I used a chunky yarn and it really shows the layering. I think I'll do the same for the redheads, least a few.

Well, my would be buyer purchased another doll she "couldn't resist" in the time it took me to unpack this couple, get the photos and send them. It took about a hour and all the while I was thinking that might be the case.

I Got Esty!

Whew! I've been telling myself for quite sometime that I'll be selling my handicrafts on Esty and it's TRUE! I now have my own shop! You can click on the mini Esty to the right of the post page and it will take you there.

I actually joined August 25th but I've been having my store under construction and since I'm new to selling on the Internet, I've yet to get a feel for which item is more popular than the other.

I like my banner though, it is dolls of my own collection, and it took me awhile to figure what would fit in Esty's pixels. Tressy's eyes look possessed but she really is glancing sideways.

Too sell or not to sell....

Okay.....I recently got my crafts out of storage, guess what I found. A lovely queen size quilt that I made in 1997! I had forgotten about it. The dilemma, do I sell it? At the time I made it I lived in a mobile home. The mobile already had its own fashion as they most always do. It did not match this handmade blanket. Guess what? My new bedroom is wallpapered with tulips and window trim has corners with stenciled tulips....by me. Not too far off.

The navy background is made of a high quality linen, a rare find, it has the fluffiest batting between the layers and the back of the quilt is light blue cotton with the borders being of the same material. My,...torn between two quilts. We purchased a new embroidered quilt at a discount store, it is a beautiful wedding ring blanket and we love it. But,WOW! The one I made matches and,......it is vintage fabric made into the appliqued tulips. I hand embroidered the borders and the quilting between the tulips, not to mention I added the touch of lace on top of the flower baskets.

Alright, the real problem. The tulips are pass along (got from my sister) fabric from my grandmother more than twenty years ago. Nana had cut the baskets and flowers to be pot holders, the baskets were to hold the pot holders and more than likely it was to hang on a hook in her kitchen. I figured that was the project when I found the heat resistant layered fabric cut in the same tulip shape. It explains why every other row is alternating colors (front and back of potholders) on my quilt.

I think for now the beautiful tulips will be on the quilt rack, right along side the handmade quilt from my great grandmother. Too sell or not too sell....
