Shirley Temple Paper Dolls

Who doesn't love Shirley Temple? Born April 23, 1928 she started dancing at the age of three.
By the age of 6, Shirley was the top grossing entertainer of the great depression, 1930 and on.

Nearly saving Fox from bankruptcy.

A contender for the acting part of Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz, she was unavailable at the time of production, but Temple's dog played the part of Toto.

It was also at the age of 13 when Shirley discovered her real age.

Her birth certificate was altered between contracts from Fox to Paramount.



It was said to extend her babyhood.

In later life, Shirley became a politician and diplomat, she was a good will ambassador of the United States to Czechoslovakia from 1989-92.

And, it wasn't Betty Ford, who wasn't one of the first ladies speaking freely about breast cancer, it was Shirley Temple Black. Mentioning ''breast'' when it wasn't acceptable to say. She spoke of being a survivor.

Shirley Temple is alive and well, just reaching her 80th birthday this year. C&G Design.

Pink Saturday Gone to the Animals

It's Pink Saturday again! A day where several bloggers post their favorite PINK.

This Saturday I chose on of my favorite cartoons, he lives in the heart of many fans and his sleuthing theme music is unmistakable. It's the lovable pink panther. He just makes me smile with his silent antics.

I think it's fitting he sponsors a pink insulation for your home.

This is a re-publish from 9/11/08, it expresses what I feel about this day.
I think everyone can recognize the picture from above, it's the Pentagon.
The original structure, built in 1941, stayed the same until 2001,
When a plane filled with hating people decided it would be better to kill Americans.


Flight 93 went down in Shanksville, Penn. Forty hero's from this flight were honored for winning the first battle in the war on terrorism.
Let us not forget the bravery of the men who felt it would be better to die fighting, than die killing.

Architect Minoru Yamasaki, backed by financier David Rockefeller and brother Gov Nelson Rockefeller, unveils the plans in 1964, for the World Trade Center. The architect was an unusual choice because he had a fear of heights.
Mr Yamasaki overcomes his despair by designing the building with windows approximately 20'' wide, less the width his shoulders. The WTC officially opened in 1972.
Mr Yamasaki was quoted " My center is for man's belief in humanity, individual dignity, man's cooperation, and through this cooperation, ability to find greatness."
In Feb 1993 the WTC saw it's first attempt at trying to devastate life amongst the twin towers. A basement bomb planted and ignited killing 6 and injuring thousands.
On September 11, 2001 the World Trade Center is destroyed in a terrorist act, it all came tumbling down.

Thousands lives lost, thousands suffer injury, and millions wept.

Raggedy Sitters-Part 2

Well, I waited to the last minute to finish my raggedy sitters, literally I finished them yesterday, finished them from the end point of last weeks post as I hadn't touched them all week. I get that when I stall on what direction to head to, that is...I had no idea what to paint for a face. I really would bore you if I showed the steps to dressing my pair so I'll just show you ''the smallest apron in the world!" Simply put, glued to Ann.

Labor Day

Can you believe that my son had a football game on Labor day!? Someone dropped the ball on that one, at least it's not mother's day although that has happened also. The coaches told my son along time ago that he would being doing double duty, varsity and junior varsity. They (our high school) lack a lot in the area of particular positions such as center which is all my son has ever played. Much to my surprise....my son is captain of the jv team, here he is for the toss off, #52.

The weather in Maine was co-operative on Labor day, one of the beautiful days we have had this year. I would of liked to have a cook-out but instead we were here, at a home game, but! Later that evening my son had practice for the varsity. Okay, enough is enough, 'cept the attendance is most important, it meant my son would start in the next varsity game, ONLY if he attended and reviewed the mistakes they made on Friday. (Varsity plays Fridays, JV on Mondays)

After practice my son had a conversation with the varsity coach who wants him at defensive tackle. My son felt if he were to start at this position he would need a crash course. The coach was leaving it to him what position he wants on Friday but felt his performance was playoff quality, as tackle. See, my son is first substitute for all 5 line man. It's unusual for on player to be posted in every slot as every position. 3rd subs would be five different players, Yah! That means he plays always! Utility player is worth working hard!
