"Oh, what a rainy day.....I think I'll squish up in the corner of the window."
(Check out the pitch coming out of my window trim! The heat and humidity must be squeezing the last of it out!?!)"Anyway....it's too dreary outside." "I think I'll try this again."

"Ahhh, mush nicer, now there is space for my tail."

"Don't I look cozy?"

"Or at least I was....until that lady flashed when she was taking photos of me."

"Oh, back to the beginning with no space for my tail and pitch in my fur!" C&G Design

Pretty boy

"I'm a cool cat, I'm a pretty boy cat" "See my inquisitive look? Good, huh?"
"But,...there needs to be a law against this. MeOw, your laughter hurts, it's stinging my eyes."

"Oh, I'm so embarrassed."

"The tail!!! Even the tail!"
"I'm outta here." C&G Design

Cuddle Cat

I know I have posted about my Maine Coon Cat many times before but he is just so darn cute and so mellow it's not funny. Why with a normal cat...when you play by ruffing up the top of the head, they move, they scat or at least fight back with a strike. Not Wooly, he closes his eyes and flattens his ears and waits! The other thing I might of mentioned about Wooly Mammoth is,....he was taken away from his mom at 7 days old, although the lady who gave him to us used that as an excuse about his mattes, (not so just needs to be cut on a regular basis), I do think some of his unusual snuggling is partly due to feeling kittenish. The above photo happens every night, it is the most inconvenient area of the hall way to put a scratching post but it was the only spot available when the Christmas tree was up. Wooly is the only cat out of three to use this post in more ways than one, geez, I'd think that position would be uncomfortable. EVERY NIGHT I tell ya. And if he's not there he can be found here. Snow

We finally had our first snow storm, it came in Wednesday morning and snowed until well after midnight dumping a foot on my area of Maine. Most places received rain on top of everything but we didn't, it made it easier to plow...if there is such a thing. Back to shoveling 3 porches and one large deck.

The poor garden AND the tiller, hubs bad habit.

It's really pretty on the threes though. I enjoy it like this....with the bright sun shinning so fiercely it hurts your eyes.

There is a couple of birch trees in there somewhere.

This is winter in Maine.....

He will venture out in the white stuff but not for long, on this day we can find Woolly in the dark banished behind bars. Aw, he's so pretty and personable.

She doesn't care about the weather until spring. It's funny that when the white stuff flies she becomes a bound house cat.

Now where is the Siamese? She is nine years old and to my knowledge she hasn't walked in the cold snow....where could she be...not in her bed Madame has for her, oay vey. And the cat actually sleeps in it! Forget about the American girl dolls.
Do you know where she is?

Ah! Finally, and I see she has heard the news, careful your tears will freeze that way. C&G Design

Furry Friends

I am working on many projects but seemly unable to feel as if I'm getting as much done. I always get to feeling this way every fall, it's partly do to the heating business picking up slack and my kids being back to school, so much going on.
Today is a fun post, it's 2 pictures apiece of my kitties. I figure I haven't posted on them for a while (not that they change...much) and since they will start hanging around more, they will do the odd stuff that cats do. Woolly mammoth, he is the only one who does not let himself out and in by jumping off and on the deck, I guess 8 feet might be a bit to high for his bulk. If he did jump he'd get rid of all the debris he brings with him! Woolly is a flopper, and a roller!
Doesn't he look evil? Just in time for Halloween, but let me tell ya, he is Maine coon and he is soooo sweet. My future breed and nothing else.

Veshneau, she is the hybrid Siamese that was given to us. Do you see what she likes as a current fetish? She chewed on the tips of this pile of wire and LOVED the bare copper I'd worked on!

I never met a more quirky cat than her. She glows living with us and is ecstatically happy.

Finally the recluse, Sophia, who was feeling a little frisky at this moment or maybe embarrassed that she turned and heard something in the direction of the woods, and she almost fell off the fence. Never! Had she jumped off the deck before but not to be out done by the Siamese! They both think it's awesome I kept the door open during the warm months.

A rare photo opportunity for Sophia and she seems agitated by it, no maybe it's because she was caught doing a goofball. I can tell her mood by her ears.

There's a mouse in the house

DISCLAIMER: I have to say right up front, this is a post about my cats and that no harm came to any mouse.

Why not? You ask? One of the reasons to have a cat is to have a good mouser, the other reasons include company, friendship, and sometimes, their ability to make us laugh. One of my felines is a good mouser, this cat can be in a dead sleep upstairs and jolt awake, fly down over the stairs, only to catch a mouse. Problem.....the cat has no killer instinct, in fact this cat doesn't play and toss these little rodents around, the cat is a live gift giver. Oh my. I don't care how clean one's home is, I've yet to see one mouse free. Through the heating business, I've had the opportunity to be in many basements, basements of the most pristine houses. There is either a noise maker plugged in (annoying the mouses hearing), evidence of traps, or worse chewed material! Well, one part of our house is over a garage and sometimes....both overhead doors are open, even all day long. It's a habit we must stop!

I'm convinced these mice find their way in and through the second story plumbing. I've even found large toads in that part of the house (the garage)! Last spring we had baby mice appear from under the bathroom vanity, there is a dead spot there and since the plumbing comes straight from the floor into the vanity itself, it's perfect! I'd blame the builders....except that's me! Anyhow, since I do have cats poison is out! I couldn't deal with traps, even harder, I couldn't deal with a mouse sitting in the dogs food dish while a cat was drinking water from the other dish.

I broke down and invested in those electronic devices.

It worked....until lately. Which cat won't maim a rodent? Won't play with it til death? And occasionally let's it go just so the chase could be on again! Always, always brings it to us so we can watch.

The above mouse was the second one caught on this day. The first one was caught and brought to Madame's bed early in the morning! Madame moved quick enough! Thank goodness it wasn't my football playing 16 year old son who will walk on the furniture when one of these scurry creatures is around! Only if, Madame thought well enough to grab the cat! CAT! Thank goodness the mouse was addled and still trying to get it's bearings when DH went to go get it. It was still there and quite lively, as with the one in the above picture. Get the idea? Astute hearing, amazing quickness, compassion not to kill.

Would it be the scrappy stray, Sophia? Who lived on rodents and string beans before coming to us?

The furious coon cat? Who could add a mouse to his collection of sticks that accompany him inside the house "getting caught" in his fur?

Or the sassy Siamese? Who is seven, likes my clean clothes (and dirty), and is crossed eyed?

I know! It's the big guy! No, no, no.

Two of these two feline pets are whispering, "Psst, you don't have to do that anymore, we get food from a box, remember?" The conversation would then continue like this...."Hey, man. Your making us look bad, try to be lazy, will ya?"

But...Veshneau, doesn't listen, even with her big ole' ears and her bad vision, a cat is a cat, is a cat......"Who me?"

She must see at least three mice where there is only one. Truly amazing..... C&G Design

Update on Veshneau

I'm really not sure this new kitty fits with our household, she goes out of her way to be unfriendly with the other cats and just recently, has decided to socialize with other humans beside Madame. I found one spring day, she has a motor and purrs! It will be a short trip to get along with the other cats because as the weather warms, Veshneau can expect to go outside. Here she is burring her nose in Wooly's tail, ONLY, ONLY, because she knew he couldn't do anything about it. Notice Jack of all Trades arm is in the way. Build a bridge and get over it!

I am aware Veshneau has moved 8 times and spent some of that time with kids under eight, six, four, and younger but by gosh! She has a few issues. Madame spent one night bawling and insisting Veshneau go back because her cat (Sophia) had been abandoned by her, O....Kay....Sophia could care less! Really.

Beyond Veshneau rearranging Madames room and camping out at areas Madame is at, ie= Napping on the extra kitchen chair while Madame has supper, Veashneau will find a bed in the clean clothes, and IF, the clothes aren't available......any piece of attire will do like JOAT"s coat. Apparently it is the best bed.

AND!...she has a bad reaction to flea collars, drops and powders. Why, why, why? C&G Design
