It might be alittle cheesy to do a Raggedy Ann Wednesday on my give-a-way gift, but I don't think Debbie will mind. My only regret is I did not get too many progression pictures, you can see how differently it looks being a single panel. This was fun to do, because so much of it evolved into a cute scene, it went quickly and as always, it was a challenge to figure jumps to separate paths of red work, or just the dots on Ann's dress.

I stitched the border by hand because it was easier to "ease" a straight line. Ease; That of which one line/curve, is worked into a larger line/curve. Pretty wild I can put my own definition to something and hope everyone understands it. Think of ease as a sleeve cap fitting into a small curve.

I really enjoyed this give-a-way and I'm thinking of another for my 500th post.

Constructing a New Pillow

It is....a rarity when I use a pattern but I wasn't not sure of the repeat lines sooo, cutting from the pattern is best in this case. And may I add, a lot of time is spent on getting your items together and cutting the pieces.

Though this looks like a complicated sewing technique, it was really quite fun to do. I was amazed how quickly the rows became shortened once I got past the first two. The lace is stitched from the outside rows in towards the short row.

As with all pillows...we must get the stuffing....just so.

After all, this jolly ole' fella is important!

Blogiversary Give-a-way! Raggedies! June 5

I'm hosting my first give-a-way! June 5, 2008 is the date my blog first posted, so therefore, June 5 of this year will make one full year of blogging, everyday. It's my blogiversary! It's been wonderful to write to 'the world' over this past year, I've made some lovely friends and learned so much from them. The cyber-world is a definate connection to people otherwise would of never met!

I'm planning some different post for the week leading up to June 5 th (Friday), I want to review the projects I accomplished over this year, set some goals for the upcoming year and may! beee my blog will interview me! (thanks! Tina)! What else, I'm not sure but I'm betting it won't be of the usual postings, crafts/family.

Each doll is 18 inches and really...not a play doll, they are more of a display doll. More information can be read here.
And since I'm currently working on a red work project, I decided to whip up this little beauty of a pillow. It's 12' x 12', sashed with complimentary Raggedy material, and flanked with eyelet lace. It's cute! This pillow would be a great eye catcher in any home, who wouldn't love Ann and Andy dancing together on their couch or bed!?

Quilt a Pillow

Did you ever hear of quilt a pillow? Well, Madame got one of those kits.... They're pretty neat. The fabric has pre-punched holes in the places where the learner is to stitch, the center is joined (quilting) and wa-la! Done.
