Felt Ornaments-Christmas Tree

This is a simple one....I learned a couple of years ago when my daughter was in third grade, to make the perfect tree, they traced their little hands. Much like my pattern is. And I got overly excited about the antique glitter I found at Wally World. They had gold, red, and silver. It was on sale for more than $4.00 a bottle, so I limited myself to one. Drats! Years ago I used a multi color on a pair of butterfly wings I made for Madame's Halloween costume, never had the chance to find that fine of glitter again, until Martha Stewart!
I love the way it sparkles and covers the glue quite nicely, I don't even mind it sticks to every part of exposed flesh on me!

Some more fun french knots and a fishing line hanger (invisible). C&G Design

Felt Ornaments-Ann & Andy

I have to say....one of my holiday decorations book has a 10'' pattern for a felt Raggedy Ann doll. I had to do some creative piecing on a smaller scale to get the appropriately sized ornament. The hair of the pattern is embroidered and because of that, I too, had to be creative and make my head large to accommodate the glue on yarn. The felt ribbon didn't work tho, plan B. I realized while thinking about a alternative ribbon, duh....the scalp should really be red. This is how I made the correction.
For being somewhat complicated, so far, so good. She came out even after I'd glued the skirt on backwards, and even though I had to remove the neck! The piece was just too small.

On to Andy, goodness what was I in for? I don't have a pattern for Andy and I had played with the scale again.

SOME pieces of the pattern from Ann I could use for Andy but the others would have to be mine. And I would have to be resourceful about "What would Andy be holding?" Also by flipping the pattern, I wanted them facing each other, I had to be very careful again.

Did I mention I was thinking about creating an Elf? I needed something that would make use of the light green felt, my second ornament was going to be a dolly. I think I fit the color, the need and the count to #12 and #13 quite well!

I did it quite nicely too! I need to be slower on applying the hot glue though, I got excited and mistakenly made a "neck" on Ann. She still works, just a little straighter smile.

Everything is embroidered, tiny stitches, but it doesn't take any cuteness away!

The darn wind! Well, you get my meaning. C&G Design.

Felt Ornaments-Purple Heart

I think this one is really pretty, I whole heartily didn't plan for it to be purple, it just happened that way. I'm trying to get these done(again, I'm saying that!). This one requires exact calculating for the pieces had to be pulled away from the edges to allow embroidering.
Some strategically placed pearl beads and a pink holder.

And a jam between the evergreen branches thanks to the wind! C&G Design

Felt Ornaments-Kitty

I'm really trying to accelerate to the finish line with my felt ornaments, this is number 10. 5 more to go. Did I mention I'm making 4 sets? I thought number 11 would be a mouse but I've since changed my mind, next time.....
No, no, not the special thoroughbred without ear!

Better, although I'm wondering if the eyes should be yellow/green.

The nose is a tad big to handle all the curiosity. C&G Design

Music-Another Art

Myself and my husband consider ourselves fortunate by not having to need a babysitter, and/or daycare. They're pluses to both sides of the debate, home parent or two working parents. We both work...it just happens I do it from home, I'm lucky.

But sometimes it's nice to have a babysitter, like this day....We took Madame Christmas shopping for her brother because we needed to get it done and she can't stay with him as a sitter, he camps outside her room and is over worried about her whereabouts. Sooo Madame went.... off we go. We finished at 8:30 and decided to stop at a thrift shop before heading home...O.K....., guess who had, had, had to have this little organ. She already has a piano, and a combo Yamaha keyboard, not to mention her Saxophone that can be spotted to the left in the black suitcase.

We made a deal right there in the store, if it all works we would by it, it's cute.

At first....the poor thing only vibrated, no sound, no nothing. The clerk said it was unusual they'd put it out without a indication about it's operation. I'm saying....thinking, It's okay, we are just fine....! Well, he looked for Madame and found this little unknown gadget underneath it. It's a volume control that is open and closed using your knee. I'll tell ya, I've never seen anything like it. Not to mention it all works. *pooh*

This is a child's Magnus Organ sold in the 60's. Most of what my research turned up about his little set is, it's a pump petal model or tabletop. I even had the model number, it's located underneath.....no info.

This organ was made by a company known for their harmonicas, they did sell organs into the early seventies when the business closed. The inventory whereabouts is unknown and has been slowly dispersed.

I found, although electronic, this organ is a wind instrument. It uses the electricity to power a pump that blows air across a reed. It is not the generally high thin sound of the combo organs used in the seventies and well known for songs like "Light My Fire." This organ was made to compete with Hammond and has a unique sound quality similar to a accordion.

I found some disclaimers on EBay about the comparing sounds, and apparently it has had a few complaints about it. We purchased it for about what EBay has for a going price. I also found a defunct group of people searching for workable models of Magnus. Too bad about the now defunct, I'd hoped for more info.

BTW, it was difficult to get underneath the thing to get these pictures, the things I do for a post!

Blue Room Pink

I find titles funny, don't you? Kinda like judging a book by it's cover, so humours it can be.
This Pink Saturday post is like that! See How Sweet the Sound for more sharing!
Having a new house with a family room (thank goodness) seems to make the residence have much less time in the living room. Considering this... (and oddly) my formal parlor has a oriental setting to it, oddly because it's farmhousish, but it works!
Here's some of my collection in that room. A cute little glass flower placed purposefully inside my plant terrarium,

So, how adorable is this pincushion!?!!

A magnificent lady, I purchase these sparingly and only because a close high school friend gave me one....which I still have!

Two children sitting on my open stairway. I think the boy might of had a fishing pole or flute in his hand but without it, it's still cunning, it also appears to match another child on the stairway that holds origami.
He's not pink though....
Oh, and I almost forgot, my daughter gave up calling this room by anything we have named so she came up with her own title for it.
She calls it the blue room for the color of the walls! C&G Design

Felt Ornament-Gingerbreadhouse

Ahhh, I get a chance to use my day glow orange! What better than a gingerbread house that looks like sherbet? I had fun doing this one, when I'm decorating a gingerbread house, I feel the sky 's the limit! The gumdrops on the side of the house and at the top of the chimney has glitter paint on them, giving a sugary appearance.

Eighteen pieces not including the fancy trim.

I used white for the back, again I cut it with zig zag shears.

Can't you just pull a piece off and eat it!! C&G Design
