American Girl

Every girl between the age of eight and twelve have asked for a American Girl doll. Madam P has two. Kirsten, the frontier girl that we acquired 3 years ago off eBay.

Kirsten is one of the original six dolls, we made her outfit with a matching coat.

Last year Madam P got "Nikki" for her birthday, she is a American girl doll of today and retired after 2007. Each American girl doll retails for $105.00 dollars and comes with a short story book.
Madam is just as happy to fashion with Happy girl (left), purchased at a flea market, and tolly doll (right), a Walmart knockoff, named "Rose". All have many fun times together. All are 18 inches.
Makes it easy when sharing clothes. C&G Design.

Could be..if she is marked Pleasant Co. on the base of her head, in the back.....she's a gem. Mr Pleasant sold AG to Matel after starting the company. He became in 1980 and sold it in 89.

Dolls have such a history and story.

So glad Madam plays with dolls as, sadly, most kids don't anymore. They are too busy with electronics and being a couch patato.

I always wanted an American Girl doll. My favorites were Molly and Samantha. They were my favorite books, but i think i enjoyed reading about Kirsten as well.

Molly is very popular amoung the girls, she is from the most near current generation, 1945 and a school girl.

Nope, my little cheap dolls head has numbers "376 13 eyes" and says "Made in Taiwan" but she is still pretty!

Hey, there is a movie (out this weekend) about American Girl! Little girl that played on "Little Miss Sunshine" is the star and I think she is modeled after a doll...

Yes, Kit, she is one of the 6 original, pretty girl from the depression. Thought about getting her for Madam P, Kit has cashmere sweaters and a banker father? I think....only thing is one of the six, is a person of color, Nellie. she is Kits best friend but, daughter of the families ----servant. I didn't like that to much. Felt it would do to much in the difference of the classes, might see the movie though.

I love AG, if you return.....you'll find, in my post haste, I deleted your comment. Anyhow, neither here or there, you were inaccurate, Kirsten was one of the first three not Felicity. Mr. is indeed Ms. although it's hard to gender Rowland, my apology to her.
Addy is the person of color, broken from slaverly.
Kit, once was rich, now poor with her friend (Ruthie-upper class) helping her (or family).
Nellie is indeed Samantha's friend. Friends WITH each other meeting when Nellie, ( or her family) are servants to Samantha's neighbors. Samantha's rich uncle adopted them to "save" Nellie and her sister from abandonment. Not a STORY I want my daughter to admire while growing up. Perhaps that's why Samantha is being retired! To each his own, I'm not too far off on my comment just different characters, I'm not a lover of AG which I thought my post reflected, in a neutral way. Molly, Samantha and Kirsten being the first three, are all popular, Molly being closest to our generation is one of the reasons she is requested by young girls, least that's my experience. If your interested in being informed I got my info from Wikipedia. Everyone has input to it's written information.

No, no...none taken. I was surprised that someone commented on my comment, I forget sometimes that I talk off the cuff, especially with a informalness of commenting.
Madame told me yesterday she saw Kit Kitridge (not sure of the spelling) at a slumber party on Friday. She enjoyed it, but she isn't sure she understood it. AG does ALOT for girls confidence and that out weighs the story lines that accompanies some of the dolls, stories that are our history and are somewhat controversal with a few. All the dolls are beautiful and Ms. Rowland needs to be credited for her giant endevor.
Don't worry that you offended me and may you have many returns to my blog.
