Cool. Do you have these all displayed in your craft room? And the million dollar question. Were the kids allowed to play with them?

I remember a Halloween costume from the 60's but I was not wearing it though. People still go dressed as her today!!!

Ha, I still iron! Ironed 3 shirts for the Saint to wear to work just last night...

No, these are pictured in the book, if I had them they wouldn't be able to handle the cell--pricey.
Skeeter, I'll iron...... reluctantly, for a special event.

Ahhh, the days of spray startch but I remember before that when we had a "sprinkling bottle" and sprinkled out clothes, put them in a plastic bag for a bit and then ironed them. Now when I am forced to go to a function that I have to dress properly for, I just iron with steam. In my humble opinon the steam iron was a great invention!!!! When your father was a young solider I had a big pan that I would have water and boxed, powdered startch in and boil it and put his fatigues in it and boil for a few mintues. Then hang on the line, sprinkle and iron. They would be too hot to hang on line by hand so I would use a stick. Fun times!! He liked them stiff as a board.

Usually the sprinkling bottle was an empty cleaning or soda bottle that you put a cork stopper in that had little holes in the top. But mostly it was a cleaning bottle as soda was not bought very much back then and ALWAYS was in a bottle and called pop or soda pop.

Another great "raggedy" post.

Mom, That sounds so interesting about the fatigues and starch! Brings back memories of the uniform, but here is one lady who NEVER irons-you can tell. lol

You should have put up pictures of the dolls that you made of raggedy ann and andy years ago. I still have mine. Though they are packed with the other dolls that you have given me in the past that you made. I have them all, but no kids to give them to and I am to old to be having dolls laying around the house!
