The Shawl

I have never made a shawl before, and I don't really feel like I made one now. Madame requested I get her a coverlet for her moving on ceremony. (Never call it graduation from Elementary school! There is only one graduation.) We looked in the local thrift shops for a beautifully crocheted table cloth but, no such luck.

I then showed her some beaded trim in Joanne's, which.....she picked out the $15.00 a yard beaded, double gimped trim. A suggestion to go to Wal-mart was much better.

Fortunately I had some lace yardage that is quite pretty.

Ugh, I don't know if I like this or not. C&G Design

I'm not sure either. Seems that the front of the shawl should be a tad longer to wrap around the arms & fall away.
I didn't know wally-world still sold material. They stopped down here.

I like it! In fact I really, really like it. Very elegant yet not fussy. Your daughter will look great at her ceremony.

I guess it depends on if Madame likes it. That's all that really matters. Hugs, Kathleen

I think it's pretty Dawn! The lace reminds me of a veil I used to wear as a child in church...back when women and girls had to cover their heads going into church. I think you did a good job and as always...you come up with something very creative. I agree with Kathleen...if Madame likes it, that all that matters. So...you can't say graduation now huh? I suppose it conflicts with the high school grads!

In looking at it all I could think of was what Marnie said "elegant".

At the end when you said you were not sure if you like it or not, my reaction was the same as Kathleen, Does Madame like it.

Hi Dawn..
I do like the little shawl...it's both sweet and young...and yet there is an elegant touch to it. I think you're going to be very pleased when she's all dressrd for her big day, with her pretty dress, her hair done....
and she slips this shawl on..she will be simply gorgeous. I like this sweet shawl..you did really well.

Shawls are so in, and none look the same. Hard to make a decision without it actually shown on a person. I think I like it. Anything goes anymore, the more different the better.
