Family Affair-Buffy

How excited was I!?!! I thought I lost Buffy forever, somehow she was separated from her broken arm and I felt it was gone for good. No, just laid and eventually rolled into another box. It held company with the little people. A post I did on my sister's blog. Why had it become important to me? This 1968 Buffy can be found all over EBay in a better condition than mine, except.....my speaking mechanism still works! She was very dirty though and removing stains from discoloring is next to impossible.

I tried my best though, I generally use regular soap on a Q-tip, rubbing in soft circles. For the hard spots, like ink, grease or age I use nail polish remover, BUT! Sparingly as it will be drying to the doll. See her voice box? She speaks. "Hi, my name is "Buffy".

Poor little dolls hair had old, old rubber bands that cracked, broke and became sticky in her hair. It wasn't to bad, a little brush out (with plastic bristle brush) and finger curls and she was a lot better.

Prettier pantaloons and socks made a bigger difference.

Unfortunately Mrs. Beasley's glasses have been drawn on with ink. I managed to get it faded and I will try again over time. Her dress a bit folded and since I will not wet her, I placed a elastic around it in hopes of helping the skirt lay flat. Other than those....I'm grateful for having Mrs. Beasley with Buffy, rarity to find them together.

It's a Family Affair. C&G Design.

Buffy looks great. She must feel so important, after being all cleaned up, and having her hair brushed and all. Look how happy she is! Is it snowing there? Snowing like crazy here...supposed to change to freezing rain this PM. Have a great day! Hugs, Kathleen

Looks great. Now you need a Jodi doll!!! However, I think Tina is the one that should have them.

Where is the video of Buffy talking to us? I would love to hear what she has to say and is it in the real Buffy voice? I loved Buffy when I was a wee tot myself....

Jean, Unless Buffy is holding a plant, I doubt Tina would want her. lol Just joking ya know but could not resist that one on Tina. Tina, you listening? :-)

75-degrees down here today ladies, come on down for a visit on the front porch...

Yes Skeeter, no, I'm not into dolls. My mother always called me Buffy when I was a kid as I had the red hair and freckles, that is why she thinks I should have her.

Hi guys
Kathleen, it sleeted for about 10 minutes this morning and then rain between 10 to noon, sun is trying to break now, hopefully some melting will go on.
Mom, I forgot about you calling Tina that. We LOVED this show.
Skeeter, I really wanted to video Buffy, she says several phrases and it is her voice. I have a new portable video but I don't know how to use it, new camera too. I'll get her on sometime.

Okay girls, just to set it all straight, you are both wrong. It was not me that called Tina that, it was the feedback I got from outsiders. Everywhere I went I always heard from someone, "Oh she looks just like Buffy". Or I heard, "Oh she looks just like Jodi". I think that it must have depended on weather a person favored girls or boys that they used the name Jodi or Buffy. She did have the red hair with lotsa freckles and at times I wore her hair in the 2 ponytails like Buffy.
All people, from kids to the very elderly ALWAYS compared Tina to Buffy and Jodi. Funny thing is, the family (me, siblings and grandparents) did'nt see it. Maybe that equates to us not having trouble telling the twins apart but friends and teachers would ask which one are you. Sometimes being close to a situation, you have a different feeling.

Now Skeeter you know why I said that.

Jean, I grew up in the mist of the “Family Affair” hoopla as well so figured as much. I have a brother one year older then me and he and I were about the same size as children and we dressed in the same shirt some times so people would call us Buffy and Jodi at times even though we had no red hairs in our head. I think all little girls with red hair were compared to Buffy back then. I have a brother 4 years older with red hair and he was compared to Opie (Ron Howard) by some. Ah, those good ole wholesome TV days. :-) My nephew, his son is also red headed but cant recall him being compared to anyone as I dont believe there were any popular redheads from Hollywood during the 80's...
