Buddy Lee

It's PINK Saturday! Click on over to How Sweet the Sound to find out what PINK Saturday is about.
My choice this week is a surprising find. (what's new?)
Well, anyone who knows my blog knows I have a passion for dolls, I collect them, repair them and make them. One of my favorites is Buddy Lee. Buddy Lee is a cute little guy made in the 1950's, he was used as advertisement for blue jeans, and is mostly remembered as the stripe dressed train engineer. It really was a pleasant surprise when I found this fabric at my favorite salvage shop so I decided to show it for pink today. Can you believe this time stamped (1950,s) linen!? was $.39 a yard?! I promptly bought 5 yards but if I had bought all 18, the total cost would be $7.00 (what was I thinking!). I had to ask the salesperson if what I was reading on the price tag, was right. I thought the dollar was faded out! LOL!
Isn't he cute? This fabric is going to be the curtains in my studio, it will cover that 8 foot arched window. Ohhhh, I can't wait!

What would life be like without Mardens. Good find and I love the doll. When the curtains are hung you will have to have a showcase stand in front of the window for Buddy.

Happy PS to all.

Oh Dawn!
Happy Pink Saturday honey. I love this post. Buddy Lee, I wasn't born until 1957, but for some reason I do remember him. Maybe one of the relatives had one that I had seen somewhere. He is so cute. I cannot believe you did not buy that whole bolt. Are you kicking yourself yet? Beautiful post. Thanks for sharing. Please stop by and say hi. Country hugs, Sherry

Happy PS. Buddy sure is a cutie. Love him in his outfit.
The curtains will be lovely. I have a valance in my sewing/puter room that has spools, scissor, pins & such on it. Looks neat.

Hi Dawn, TY for stopping by. I'm getting ready for my Daughter and SIL, so have been cleaning, painting... They are coming from Minnesota (I'm by Naples, FL).

Yeah, I kinda sorta remember Buddy... (I'm circa 1955) That is just fabulous - about the fabric I mean. HOLY SMOKES! Oh for a yard of that stuff. Don't throw away any scraps, I'll buy them. Some might be large enough for a night light!

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, xJ
