Redwork-block 3, turkey

Major Brain cramp, Yes! Yes! I'm so wrapped up in getting my graphics exact I forgot to REMEMBER! that my patterns can be traced through the fabric! Duh! I knew that.

This little guy is somewhat complex, (I never thought I'd be saying that about a turkey.)but he has too many lines to be simple.

I kind of play a skill game with myself when doing things such as these. I go as far as I can hoping I'll not get trapped by needing like....4 inches of thread because I couldn't do it with all one long one. In other words, a short area of embroidery left over.

Can you see it?

I can, start your thread behind the turkey's head, up, upper arch, lower arch over 3 sections, down, stitch lower tail feathers to turn to inner tail feathers, back to outer. That leaves the last lower arch to be done on the end tailfeather, luckily my thread was long enough to travel interwhinding, up the back of the work. It would of taken just as much to tie off and restart as it would to follow the running on the back of the work. I feel honored to have just so little left over.

Cute.

Still more to come, BTW I am saving these patterns. C&G Design

I saw it! It took me a minute but I did! I want to learn this. Where do you get the patterns Dawn? How big are the squares you use and the patterns? I think the turkey is my favorite so far. You do wonderful work.

Turkey Lurkey! I am with you, tying off is for the birds, (pun intended tee hee) I would intertwine up the lines as well. But if thread is an issue, tying off is the way to go. Slow but works...

Are you going to make a quilted panel out of these or what is the plan for them???

I can see a barnyard theme going here...

Tina, What kind of quilt? I'll make one for you just tell the size and what it is about. This redwork is easy and fast! Is that what you are doing?
Thanks, mom
Debbie, the squares are 8 1/2'' by 7 1/2'' and I got most of these off a site Alphabet blocks (my 'puter won't let me navigate away so I can link it). But it's a site for teacher's tools. Most coloring book pages would be good. I think you would LOVE doing this work, thanks.
Skeeter, I'm trying for a crib quilt but it might get larger. Barnyard animals yes, some bugs, some pets, some wildlife. Really cute ones coming up.

I love the turkey, my favorite so far. You work pretty fast. I have a cross stitch project that I started 3 years ago....maybe if I worked on it, it might get done LOL. Rainy, drab, damp day. Hugs, Kathleen

Gobble! Gobble! I love these embroidered caricatures, they totally capture the animals personality. Great work!
