Redwork-block 2, bunnies

This is my second block in my redwork project, again another simple choice. I'm not real sure where this project is going or what it will all be but I'm having fun doing it.

Redwork was used mostly for splashers, antimacassars, tea towels, dresser scarfs, chair cushions and sofa pillows. It wasn't until the turn of the century that bedcovers and quilts peaked.

How cute is mom with a young'un?

Cute! Best kind of bunnies-inanimate ones.

Do you know about cowbirds? Brown head, black body? Big birds. They lay their eggs in other birds nests. Then that bird does all the work to raise the cowbird's young one. Many folks have an issue with this. It is pretty interesting though. I've not seen any around here.

I remember tea towels at our old house while a child. Also pillow cases done this way as well as table top thingys...

We have the brown headed cow birds at our feeders at times but they dont seem to stay too long.

I have seen many washstands with the dowel and figured it was for a towel. Very interesting.

I love the redwork and find it really interesting how you always give us a little history lesson on what you are doing too! I collect old doilies and have found tons of them at yard sales and sold them on Ebay, including anitmasscars. Now...I want to keep them all! You do great work Dawn. I wish I had an old house with many old bathrooms so I could display little tea towels in them like they used to long ago....I love that look.

Dawn, I love your designs...adorable. Yes, this weather is fantastic. I am loving it. I, too, love old linens. Pillowcases, bureau scarves, tea towels....many with just beautiful workmanship. Hugs, Kathleen

Hi guys, No, I'd never seen a brown headed, black bodied bird before, when I looked it up though, I was surprised to find the habits of it. It is a lazy bird for sure. Sticks around cows and bisson for the food they kick up, why at the feeder?
I think I'll do a redwork tea towel for my year anniversary blogging give-away, Raggedy Ann, looking for something cute right now.
Goodness, with swine flu and such, Irs gave us a refund 2 years ago based on them reading a wrong line..... and now they are charging, with penalties and interest going back that far, saying for the year...it's unpaid. I'm so annoyed with them. Here's to canceling school tom. based on a student going home today with the flu!!!!*sigh*yell*swallow! Doesn't stop me, I have go and pick up my braces in the morning, invisa-line. Should be different. Fun, fun. Regardless, I'm planting or planning to plant this week-end! No weeds for me! Newspapering the soil all day! Potatoes set in tires! A-frames and barrelling composting, all planned I tell ya!
Bright side to everything!
