Felt Ornaments-Poinsettia Star
I love working with felt, not only is it easy, it lends an air of folk art to its structure. The following ornament begins another series of others, everything will be made from felt. One of these days I may separate all the ornaments into the same-like group for sale, the end goal being prices as a whole tree packaged. I thinks this star is very pretty with the poinsettia flower in the center, the yellow french knots enhance the idea of this common Christmas plant. Tulips on each point with a red french knot for the stamen, leaves in the narrow corners of the poinsettia, and white as the base of the star turned out to be very attractive. I'd thought with the folk feel I might try to have a purple back, the color is important because it will over lap showing an edge to the star. Yellow seemed to traditional.

Very nice, but I also think the purple would work. Of course I am partial to purple.
I just thought the yellow made it pop, purple would of blended with the folksy. Hopefully we are getting the tree up today, been many years, maybe one for the porch!
They are very pretty. I also loved working with felt as you can make soo, so many neat things and it goes fast, unlike a lotta crafts. With pompoms als and I have used them both together and it is great. Also the felt and or pompoms items make nice magnet things also.
I am also working on my Christmas stuff. Not too much up yet as I took my Friendly Village out of the cupboards and put the Christmas dishes in there so now I will start on other boxes. The outside ones were to be done today but it is raining/snowing so will wait till next weekend. Good luck on yours. It will be exciting for all of you this year.
Felt is also one of my favorite mediums to work with. I have made several things of felt over the last several days. You are right about the reasons for it's use too. My cats keep taking all of our ornaments off the tree so I need to make something they can't hurt too much. Yours are much more ornate than the things I have been working on lately though.
Hi guys,
Mom, dry as a bone here, amazing....we did get the tree up, took awhile to get enough lights out of many.
Cinj, thank-you for the compliment, I thought your felt tree was wonderful and of course the breakable one is beautiful.
