Oriental Punch Art

There wasn't a iota of hesitation about this wonderful punch hook portrait. I found it at a thrift shop and told Jack of all Trades....."I have to have this." *SIGH* "I know." It is really beautiful, it is made with silk yarn that has a knotted texture. Punch hooking is done with a shuttle like tool that does what the title states, it punches the thread and that's all. I don't have a embroidery punch hook, I have a rug punch hook, I don't think that will work in this application. What to do when I got my portrait home and discovered it wasn't finished?

Geeish, I must of been to excited about my new found treasure to notice the shrub was undone. Why go so far and not finish? The best I could do was french knots and the outline stitch for the snow on the branches.

It works. I know this post can't really message how fragile this photo is.....just look at the back of this punch hook and see the spots that aren't punched! I had to be so careful as to not pull any stitch!

Everyone loves it, it is nice. I framed it in another thrift shop special. An old plaster frame with missing decorative accents, sprayed in a brown stain, padded with batting and the portrait placed so the flaw of a water stain won't show (it was one the bottom, really bad!)

Again, it works. Perfect for the blue room. C & G Design.
