Fungus Among Us

New England has had some strange weather this year, first a total accumulated amount of snow at over 16 ' and then the wettest summer I can remember. Things could be worse, it could be the hottest summer.

I wanted to segment into the alien beings popping up around my yard and the easiest way to do that is to let you know how gloomy and drippy we've been.

Well, I'll let the pictures explain....
My former veggie garden.....
We will plant grass because we need a sunnier spot for the veggies......
I hope the spores don't spread when we rototill......
This one is in the play yard.......
So is this one!!!!!
Everyone agrees, this one in the front yard.......Is quite pretty......
Crevice crawler!!!!!

And RIGHT behind my mailbox.....

Maybe it'll bill snatcher the really high ones....C&G Design.

I think they are all pretty cool-so colorful! They won't hurt anything.

Lets hope not, the red one reminds everyone of a flower. That one was a pleasant surprise for a 'shroom.

Yup most of the pics looked like flowers. Pretty. We did'nt get a lotta snow here and NO rain for a very long time but in the last 2 weeks we have got about 4 inches and my front lawn has mushrooms and I don't ever remember that happening before and it was 26 years ago that we built our house on this location.

Mom, Are the seeds growing? Anything blooming yet? Great you have rain. None here. Sigh.

Send me some rain Dawn and Jean! You know I need it...
Funny thing; we dont have rain for like ever and then with one rainfall, we have mushrooms and fungus pop up! Article in paper said to knock them out of ground so they don’t spread but they are harmless...
I would like to see some shrooms about now! lol

I thought I needed to do something with these aliens, I'm mostly concerned about the former garden.
Mom, I've seen in the news you have got rain, today we are in the gloom but no rain and I guess your getting whacked! Mushrooms are crazy, I would think your front yard wouldn't get them, so dry, high, and not much decaying matter.
Skeeter, I'd love to send some rain your way. I was thinking when I did this post....could be worse, we could drought. Noooo thank-you, never really been in one but I'll miss the sun anyday rather than the green things(fleshy things) growing around me. Must be miserable esp. wondering when water restrictions will happen again.
Guess I got to go and poly the book shelf, put it off to long now.....

Some seeds have come up Tina, but not a lot. The glads are up and a couple of them have buds. But they are bigger than the others so they may be a couple that Terri-Lynn had left in the ground. Myself, I can't believe that but she swears that they have bloomed every year and I know they have but do not understand it as she had not dug them up.

It rained hard during the night and early morning but just gloomy since then. The sun has peeked out a few times for a few mintues. It is strange that they are growing on the highest place in the yard. Strange year for sure.

Skeeter I sure wish I could send you some also. I want some SUN!!!

Mom, The glad might be hardy there. They seem to be pretty reliable nowadays. How about the brown eyes and agastache (licorice plant)?

Calling for steady rain all day tomorrow. Will believe it when i see it though.... We mowed the grass today just in case so as to not have a wild mess. Once it rains the grass grows like crazy...

Tina the brown eyes and licorice are doing great!!

Skeeter I will keep my fingers crossed for your rain!!

Ya me too Dawn. The pool is soooo cold, it will never warm up again. Even Josh, Christy and Jay tried to get in Sunday and backed out. Josh started screaming cause of the cold. But Josh sure did put on a show later on. He loves balls and always has one in his hand. He was throwing it at the basketball net. Well I guess you know that did'nt do well so, God love Sandra, she went and got the pool basketball set. It is low and Josh could get a basket. He was soooooo happy. We would cheer him on and he would stop and clap also. This went on for about an hour. Now why did us "smart" adults ever think to get that one before. A real big duh for all of us. Then Jay would hold him up to the regulation net and he could get it in, thanks to Jay being nice and tall. He was so cute.
