More Majorettes

Another activity filled weekend, hopefully sooome...thing gets done before baseball starts. Madame had another unsanctioned competition last Saturday, we sat for 4 and a half hours. But her team took first, beating an older team. The older team has the "leader of our pack's" daughter on it. The "leader" was Madame's first coach and has worked very, very hard to expand our Majorettes. 12 teams preformed, of different groups, but from the general area.

I like how the camera picked up on the movement, kind of neat. The first picture is of a horizontal (over their heads) to the person behind them, they got it! It's a junior high skill.

Here's Madame is at intermission, practicing strut, or the march in a square to a beat of 8 count.

Starting strut.......

Ending strut. She took runner-up, she was unhappy about it. Glare down those judges!!!

This was Madame's first solo. She wanted to do it. The judges look for fluid, smooth transition twirling from one hand to another, tosses and wraps (neck wrap, wrist wrap, thumb wrap). Madame didn't do so well on her tosses, I'm told she is extremely fast and therefore needs a heavier baton. She nailed all the wraps and transitions. And even for forgetting 1/3 of her performance, she still came in third, yeh! She placed! I was happy for her! She can improvise well.

All the way home she kept telling me she thinks her heart "skipped a beat", she was so nervous. Ugh.......C&G Design

My heart would skip a few beats if I had to perform in front of an audience. Congrats to Madame!

Oh wow! Congratulations to all! This just made me remember I was a majorette for two years in Jr. High! Ah, the memories! I should blog about it someday....or maybe not!

LOL!

Wow, what an excitement! Congrats to Madame. If the baton is too light for her does that mean that you have to buy her a heavier one?
