Alice

I have a fondness for storybook dolls and fairytale dolls, there is something memorable about seeing and being around the characters of my childhood. Alice is one of my first storybook dolls, she is made by Effanbee, and was a early composition doll of the same name company.
Alice in wonderland is a hard plastic with vinyl head. I had to redo her hair when I bought her as it was a snarly mess.
Alice is marked Effanbee, c. 1976 on the back of her head and she is a exact reproduction of the composition doll, including the same outfit. Such lovely shoes!
I have others from this series and the international doll collections by Effanbee. The company was established in 1910 and is a recognized, very popular company of today. All of my Effanbee dolls have sleep eyes.

I HAVE thought.....Alice would make a wonderful topsy turvy, turnabout doll.

But that's for another post. C & G Design.

Glad I peek back in before shutting down the puter for yard work! Ah, puter glitches are no fun.... Several bloggers have not taken notice as of this morning.

Alice looks pretty! A friend of mine went to a Halloween party last year dressed as Alice. She did a great job of putting the outfit together from mostly Goodwill store. The kids that came to the door Trick or Treating, had no idea who Alice was.. So sad...

Wow! That is sad.
Took me awhile to notice, I was at a panic thinking it was my computer, these things only happen over the weekend!

I thought it was my computer too, but then visited Gail's website and found hers was shut down as well. I put two and two together then. What a scare!!! Cute doll. I always hated Alice in Wonderland though. I don't believe I have ever watched it all the way thru. I am more a 101 Dalmations and Bambi type gal. Also, one of my favorites-Song of the South. I have the video and it was HARD to find. Just couldn't get into the fantasy thing with Alice. Pretty hair. Jimmy and a friend are in a contest for best Guitar Hero. Too funny. Wish I were with them but gotta go shopping. Have fun at football-already!

WOW....she is sooooo pretty and do you see what I see? Her hair is a little darker but the face looks just like Madam P!!!!

Oh my goodness Skeeter, that really is so sad. I was never a big fan of Alice either but it is a classic and all kids should have the choice to see her.

Site Meter is back up. Frances told me it came up at about 2:30 pm. All info is still there. You should add it back in if you wish. I did. Yah the tech guys!

Alice is just lovely. Although she does look a bit bald. LoL. Maybe its how her hair is pulled back. I also love fairy tales.

Hi dp,
It is the way her hair is pulled and when I moved here I shook her to spread out the bottom of her hair. Most dolls have seams in the hair,???? Don't ask me why, I think it's to mark beginning and end.
