Archies

How boring, I have tried for 2 weeks now to download a video to blogger depicting the "Intro to Archie, 1969". No go. I'm not sure it isn't my computer but the darn thing kept stalling on the in-between 'download' and what 'video'. It may be the video itself, I can download short snippets from my camera, nothing from my real player though. The Archie's aren't the same unless you can hear...."Sugar, sugar..aww, honey, honey...you are my candy girl......" I'm finding many celebrations this year, Barbie turning 50, Kewpie turning 100 and now......The Archie's (the band), is 40 years old. The Saturday morning cartoon debuted September 1968 and was the first cartoon to use a laugh track, chuckle in a can. The group, The Archie's, made it's mark in the world in 1969 with Sugar, Sugar. The group and it's lead singer, Ron Dante, went on the have such hits as Jingle, Jangle and Puppet on a String.

This September, The Archie digest will celebrate it's 600 issue with Archie finally making his choice gal, he purposes to Veronica Lodge. (Chooses money over goodness!) Poor Betty Cooper gets left in the isle! The story has a twist with Senior Lodge discovering his Veronica was switched at the hospital, with.....tada.....Betty!
Sales must be slumping is my guess.

How do you like Madames new socks? Befitting to say the least. C&G Design

Great post and great look back at some neat things of that era. I'm going to have to forward this to my sister...she loved the Archie comics as a kid.

I can hear them singing in my head just from your words. Such a sweet comic. The socks are perfect for Madame.

What a great post! I loved the archies and the comic books too. That sugar, sugar, is now stuck in my head for the day. I started humming it immediately when I read it! I had no idea they still made Archie items? The socks are adorable and I am sure Madame loves them. How neat that you can share something from your past with her...and you both like it? That's the way with music too. My kids love some of my oldies and tend to think they are "new" songs! I had one of the Archies 45's in my collection back then...I am sure it was Sugar..Sugar. Thanks for the memories!

Great socks and I guess we all agree that we can hear the music and it will be with us all day. A cheerful trip in Memory Lane today.
