More Goat's Rue + Veggie Garden Update

It occurred to me the other day.....I had not pictured a full photo of my goat's rue. See How Sweet The Sound for more pretty pink things. Why did it occur to me? The stuff is still blooming! 3 weeks later, I said spectacular.

It is related to the sweet pea family and until this year I had not noticed a fragrant.

It has a slight lilac smell, the kind you smell in the breeze and think to yourself, ohhhh, what's that?

Goat's Rue, named for it's ability to enhance breast size and lactation, is considered a invasive plant with high bacteria content in it's tuber root, so high, everything else planted along with it will eventually perish.

Mine is growing alone within the confines of a raise bed circled by a rock wall, it's still spilling out of it's boundaries though. C&G Design.

Never heard of Goat's Rue but it is pretty. It's a shame it's invasive.

Dawn I was just getting caught up and I cannot believe your garden!! I just got done commenting on the previous post. I am still amazed. What a lot of work you put into it! Great job my friend! I wish we were neighbors...I KNOW i would learn a lot from you. Do you can veggies? I am going to try this year...pickles and maybe some other things. The goats rue is beautiful and the leaf reminds me of an invasive red berry plant that grows in my back yard...not sure if related. Nice job....and thanks for sharing! Happy Fathers day to your Jack of all trades and your family. We are having a big gathering here tomorrow.

The Goat's Rue is wonderful and it does look a lot like Sweet Peas. Save me some seed. I planted some of the Joe Pye Weed you gave me but don't see any coming yet.

Lovely pink blog post! Another Saturday, where I am taking in all of the pink and visiting some of the most lovely blogs in cyberspace. I need the pink this morning, it's all dark and raining outside. So thanks for the uplift☺

Wishing you and those you l♥ve a weekend filled with sunshine, good food and many, tender memories.

It's a gorgeuous plant. I was reading Debbie's comment, and do you can? I did about 20 years ago, and have decided to start canning again this year. Mostly pickles and other failry simple stuff. Your garden is beautiful, and you can tell a of of work and planning went into it. Rain...can you believe this? UGH Hugs, Kathleen

Hi guys, Years ago I did tomatoes (not true canning thou) It is a hot water bath with stewed tomatoes, and I've done jams. No real canning, I have a canner though! And I'm trying it this year, JOATs will check the gauge first, don't want a horror story. Family $ has the mini jars ($7.00 case size) and the full jars ($8.00) go figure. Grab them while they are hot!

First time I've heard of Goat's Rue, does it go by any other name? It looks familar.

It's very pretty! too bad it is so aggressive.

Thanks for sharing.
