Redwork-Block 19, Dragonfly

I am not fond of this little guy.....I know it's as popular as the butterfly and used in a lot of teen aged attire, but.....I don't like this guy. I think....really it's because when they get trapped in a shed or under a porch overhang, they can tend to look dead. When you get closer, bang! Movement. I had one stuck in the house last year, a harried scene for sure! They bite don't they? Seems like I remember something from being a child, if they landed for too long, it felt as if a ice cold piece of ice was next to your skin. Ugh!

Good Morning! You might not like the dragon-fly, but he turned out beautiful. How many squares to go? I think my body is turning to mold with all this rain. Do you think the whole summer will be like this? Your pooch is in my prayers...Hugs, Kathleen

Good job Dawn. I do like the way he turned out. Of course I really like redwork.

I LOVE the dragonfly. They are such good friends in the garden. He'll fit right in with the rest.

LOL, that made me laugh. I like dragonflies, and yours is so pretty.

As a child we thought they, along with what we called sewing needles - the smaller blue ones around lakes - could sew up a cut, but it would hurt so we were scared of them. I think we were under the impression the big ones stung or burned if they touched you. They probably were after the sugar of our koolaid and popsicles... but they always seemed to be hovering.

Tomorrow for Pink Saturday I'm featuring a slideshow of lovely flowers from my Dad's gardens around his home on the St. Croix River in Wisconsin.

Today I have a post on Slide, an application that lets you have slideshows on your blog, website whatever.

Take Care, J

Oh I like him Dawn. I also remember something about the old wives tale of the sewing being done from the dragon fly.

I think we probably all feel a little moldy but it is good for the gardens. I did hear on the boob tube that the northeast was not going to get a summer this year. Since we did'nt have much of a summer last year I sure hope they are wrong. We did not have a lotta rain last year but not much heat either.

Wish the Red Sox could play the Yankees all year!!!

I'm just an unabashed fan of redwork. Repetitive response, I know. So, dragonfly or anything, I love it. Will be getting to my old tissue patterns soon...30s and on. Can't wait to explore them.

Hope your dog (and family in this situation) are doing better.

Hi Dawn...sorry I have not commented in a few days! I am playing catch up again. I feel the same way about dragon flies even though they are beautiful. To me, they are akin to giant moths (which I hate) and they freak me out. Now...the one you embroidered is just gorgeous!...(of course!) as all your work is beautiful! Now I am on to your other posts to catch up!
