Early Season

Last night it was in the low 30's and high 20's for a outside temperature, seems like winter is arriving rather quickly.
On Tuesday, snow fell about 30 miles from me and today it is predicted to fall even closer and more wide spread.
Summer consisted of two weeks with hot weather but mostly 2 months of heavy rainfall, what happened to summer?
This is picture of a potbelly stove in the dollhouse, I thought it was rather fitting to the seasonal changes, Maine can be brutal in the winters so nothing is better than sitting next to a wood stove. I miss it. I remember fondly of those days when I babysat and spent a cozy time with the kids next to the raging wood stove.
Madame has added the piglet to the dollhouse, she is determined to have a farm even though it's only pretend. C&G Design

Ah yes, woodstoves are simply wonderful. We have one in Roger's garage but he rarely uses it. Such a shame. Stay warm, still above freezing here.

Many, many years ago I picked up a doll house at a garage sale. It looks homemade and is kind of drab (almost grim) looking. You inspire me to take another look at it and maybe work with it a little this winter.

Nothing beats the heat of a good wood stove and the smell is so wonderful. That being said I have to say I put my time in on them and NEVER will deal with another one. When I was younger I loved to split wood but now I do not even want to deal with the mess of it, let alone split it. They do take a lot of work. I would not even have a fireplace. As much as I like to watch one I do not want the mess.

We will freeze at the football game tonight but I will go and try to stay thru it. See you there. Not quite as cold here as up your way but cold and very windy. The wind usuall dies down at night so hopefully it will tonight also. On the weather last night they said it was the coldest high for the day on that date since records have been kept. You would think with our non summer Mother Nature would be nice to us now. HaHa!!!

Mom, They had him take a fullback number for jersey day today (game day) He's really excited and believes he'll be playing at the end of the game but I think he will be playing most of it. Defense players got yelled at because he was gaining 7 yards on every run during practice and the coaches now call him "TANK". Ah, ya...just figuring that out?

Dawn, your little room setting is just wonderful..and I specially love
that tiny rug and pot bellied stove. Just adorable. You have inspired me to begin working with my minis and shadow boxes again....just as soon as I finish this October Sunbonnet Sue block. Hand applique is slow going for me..:).

Love the smell of a good wood fire whether it be a stove or fire place. I sure do miss my fire place.
A camp fire also smells so good. We use to have one no matter the temp. Of course in the mtns that was the norm.
Isn't the weather a little off? Should not snow now.

Even though I grew up in the same latitude as I live now, with four seasons, and full on winter with snow, I always forget about the winter. I can't visualize it which is probably a good thing. This will be our fourth one here. I'm in denial! LOL! I had summer...6 weeks in Louisiana and Texas! And, I'm glad I did.

We have a wood stove, but used up all the wood last year.

Love those pot belly stoves! We may find an old country store with one glowing at times on our backroad travels. It has turned chilly here and we may have a fire in the living room fireplace this weekend during movie night! Love the smell of a campfire more then anything in the fall. Had one in our backyard this past weekend. Was nice....

I'm with you Dawn....summer seemed to turn itself around for the most part (in my mind anyway!) but what about fall?? It's too cold too fast for me! I want a long and leisurely fall....I want to drag out the colors of the trees...take walks when the weather is just right...not too hot...not too cold...like Goldilocks porridge! But no! The temps are freezing most of time lately. Our heat has been on every day and the talk of snow is on the news. I guess we just don't get enough of any season here any more and we can only hope that happens with winter!...that would be ok. Love the little doll house items and that old woodstove...very cozy and comfy...New England all over!

Oh Dawn, here we go.. It was 25 degrees here this morning. What is up with this. This is only October, isn't it? I don't seem to remember it getting this cold this fast, before. Is this usual? If this is an indication of the weather to come...we are really in for it. Mt Katahdin is 1/2 covered in while snow. Bring in the wood, light up the fire, get cozy and warm, and remember all those rainy days we had....oh brother.....................hugs, Kathleen
